SINGAPORE, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) have extended their collaboration on the "Belt and Road" Chinese portal a year after its official launch, said the two parties in a joint media release on Wednesday.
SBF and SPH signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday to add an events calendar and broaden the Chinese portal's news content, and develop an English version of the portal.
Since its launch in March 2016, the "Belt and Road" Chinese portal has received a total of 7.5 million page views, with visitors coming mainly from the Greater China Region, Singapore, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United States, said the release.
The new English portal aims at attracting more international readers and widening the portal's reach beyond the region. It will also provide a western community's perspective on this initiative, according to the release.
Chairman of SBF S.S. Teo said Singapore businesses are encouraged to visit the "Belt and Road" portal to gain insights and explore possibilities for business and investment under the initiative.
Anthony Tan, Deputy CEO of SPH said "Belt and Road" is a significant bilateral cooperation between Singapore and China.
"The English portal will help to strengthen the understanding of this initiative for readers and enterprises, and create more business opportunities in the region," said Tan.
The "Belt and Road" initiative has recently been identified as a focal point of China-Singapore bilateral cooperation.
