The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday discussed the details of Premier Li Keqiang's upcoming official visits to Australia and New Zealand. Li is making the trip that begins Wednesday and ends March 29th at the invitations of Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English.

"This is Premier Li Keqiang's first visit to a foreign country since China's Two Sessions and 11 years after his predecessor's last visit to Australia and New Zealand. This visit shows China, Australia and New Zealand's effort to ensure free trade amid weak global economic recovery and rising protectionism and anti-globalization," Vice minister of Foreign Affairs Zheng Zeguang said.

Zheng also said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of China's diplomatic ties with both Australia and New Zealand. Premier Li will sign a series of cooperation agreements with the two countries during his trips. Li will attend the fifth annual meeting of Chinese and Australian prime ministers during his stay in Australia.
