BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- China welcomes the continuous improvement of the Russia-U.S. relations, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Friday.

"Improved ties between Russia and the United States will be good news to the world," Geng Shuang told a daily news briefing.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited Russia this week, and both sides have remarked on bilateral ties recently.

Geng said that a healthy and stable development of bilateral relations between the U.S. and Russia, which are both influential global powers and permanent members of the UN Security Council, will help maintain world peace and stability and respond to global challenges.
