The West has its Easter Eggs, but painting on egg shells is also part of Chinese folk art tradition. In Neiijiang City, Sichuan Province, a 49-year-old amateur folk artist captures traditional legends and folk tales on his tiny canvases.

Meet Lei Wenbin, who portrays the world on small egg shells. Brilliant works of art, brightly colored and intricate.

Chinese folk themes, like these traditional New Year series, are a favorite.

His works also include carved zodiacs and embroidered figures. Decades of experience have enabled him to easily sketch a figure with a few strokes, all that's needed for his tiny canvases.

"I saw my father paint on eggshell when I was little, and I want to inherit his unique art so I began to explore with the technique, and now it's been almost 30 years," he said.

However, painting on delicate eggshells isn't easy.

"Painting on eggshells is very different from painting on canvas.  The eggshell is three-dimensional, so the layout must have different perspectives," Lei said.

From all his works, you can see the creator's dexterity in his mind and hand, and a warm heart that loves life. Lei says he will continue to amaze people with his unique works.
