President Xi Jinping says the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative has been put forward well since its introduction years ago. He was speaking in Beihai, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.  He was visiting the Hepu Han Dynasty Museum, with collections related to the ancient trade along the maritime route.

The Belt and Road Initiative was launched by Xi Jinping in 2013.  It aims to revive the ancient trade routes and boost the interconnection between the regions. The president noted that Beihai played a role in the ancient route, and said China will continue development within the modern framework.
