The new central leadership of the Communist Party of China was elected at the first plenary session of the Party's 19th Central Committee. Xi Jinping was re-elected as general secretary of the Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Xi made a commitment to the leadership's commission and duty, while calling on all Party members and Chinese people of all ethnic groups to make new and greater achievements when meeting the press with other members of the Standing Committee of the 19th CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, October 25, 2017.
For a political party, which fights for the eternal well-being of the Chinese nation, the CPC has set up two centenary goals: first of establishing a moderate prosperous society, and second of becoming a strong power in the world. The upcoming five years between the 19th and 20th CPC National Congress is a period in which the time frames of the Two Centenary Goals will converge and a period to carry forward the great cause on building from past success.
"In this new context, we must get a new look and, more importantly make new accomplishments,"  Xi said. He also expressed confidence that "I have no doubt in my mind that our people's lives will see further improvements year after year."
His words, which depicts a grand vision for the country, are highly encouraging for all Chinese people to forge ahead courageously while remaining true to original aspirations.
Inspired by the new blueprint and facing a new journey ahead, Chinese people will work harder and continue to strive for bright prospects of the nation's great rejuvenation while rallying more closely around the CPC Central Committee under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era.
