Poppy is an American girl who loves to take adventures in traveling around the world. She has left her footprints in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

Where is she now? Yeah, in China. For how long? One year. This is a short video on highlights of her experiences in China, extracted from Poppy’s "Where is Poppy" YouTube video page.

Prior to her travels, she felt a bit uneasy, with much media negativity biases weighing on her mind and she had been warned against traveling in Beijing over false rumors.

But she is brave and curious enough to continue on with her China adventure. Based in Shenzhen, a modern metropolis in southern Guangdong Province, she had already traveled to ten cities across China: Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Guilin, Shenyang, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing.

And after one year here in China, she found it a totally "unexpected" experience.

Poppy said Western medias have portrayed China as "dirty, polluted, over-crowded, two industrialized, dangerous," "people are unfriendly..."

But, what has Poppy discovered is absolutely another world. She has found blue sky and clear water here. She took the Metro during rush hours on weekdays and it was fine. And everybody is saying "hi" to her and the Chinese are "super-friendly." China did not ban Christmas and she spent some time on Christmas Eve with Chinese children.

In Beijing, a poorly portrayed place in Western medias, she was shocked to find that how wrong those media outlets were. And Beijing has become one of her favorite cities, due to its richness in culture.

She even took a first-ever solo trip in Nanjing. With a tough language barrier, she was a bit nervous at the thought of traveling alone there. But again shocked to find how easy and safe it is.

And in Shanghai, a taste for Chinese nightlife there has become an experience she would never forget. And she believes Yangshuo in Guilin is one of the most beautiful places that she has ever visited.

She was also fascinated by the richness of Chinese food: So many dishes to try and so many unique food traditions in how to eat and where to eat, and of course, some "notorious" local snacks, which might make some foreigners feel shocked.

Well, just like there are one thousand Hamlets in one thousand people's eyes, China, with its vast land area, diversified culture, and richness in ethnic customs and traditions, and also, a not quite-balanced development, visitors can find their “paradise” here.
