On July 25, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech titled "Keeping Abreast of the Trend of the Times to Achieve Common Development" at the BRICS Business Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa.

President Xi shared his thoughts on the changes the world is going to witness in the next 10 years, pointed out the direction for the long-term cooperation of BRICS countries and proposed Chinese solutions for development of the world economy.

"We are witnessing major changes unfolding in our world, something unseen in a century," President Xi said. To cope with the complicated international situation, he put forward four proposals, calling on BRICS countries to pursue win-win cooperation, innovation, inclusive growth and multilateralism to achieve common development for the emerging-market group, which set the tone and highlighted key points for BRICS cooperation.

From Xiamen to Johannesburg, Xi proposed a far-sighted Chinese approach for deepening BRICS cooperation and contributed Chinese wisdom to promote solidarity and cooperation, winning widespread resonance.

At the new historical point, Xi put forward insights and propositions, drew up blueprints for and injected a new impetus into the development of the BRICS mechanism, charting the direction for a more prosperous BRICS cooperation in the next "Golden Decade."
