Jia Qinglin inspects new railway

Central government delegates on a visit to the Tibet Autonomous Region have toured the new Lhasa train station to see how construction is going on the world's highest railway. Led by senior leader Jia Qinglin, the delegation is in Lhasa for celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of the region's founding.

Jia Qinglin called the Qinghai-Tibet railway the world's most challenging project. By linking Tibet with other parts of China, Jia noted it will be a significant boost to the region's development. And a stable and prosperous Tibet will be good for the whole country. Jia expressed satisfaction with the progress of the new railway, thanking construction workers for their dedication to the project.
