Pool roof collapse kills at least 9

At least nine people were killed and eleven others were injured on Sunday when the concrete roof of a swimming pool collapsed in the Ural Mountains region. The incident occurred at around one in the afternoon, near the town of Chusovoy, about twelve hundred kilometers east of Moscow. There are at least two children among the dead, and six among the injured. Rescuers are still working to lift concrete slabs out of the pool, which is owned by a metallurgical factory. It is still unclear as to whether other swimmers are still trapped inside. The incident echoes a similar collapse at the Moscow Transvaal water park in February 2004, in which twenty-eight people died and more than a hundred others were injured.
