The Year of the Dog is almost here, and in China man's best friend is getting some special pampering. Dog owners are flocking to pet shops to make sure their canine companions are looking their best ahead of the celebrations.

With Spring Festival almost upon us, pet-owners are taking their dogs to the beauty salon, to have a haircut or a bath.

Customer said, "People are celebrating the New Year; dogs should enjoy it too."

Some of the pet stores also provide services like claw cutting, ear cleaning and hair dyeing...and even saunas for dogs. This shopkeeper said business has been up as the festival gets nearer.

Buying new clothes for dogs has also been a way for owners to show their affection for their pets.

But while REAL dogs are being pampered, all kinds of images of dogs are decorating the streets, stores and homes. As people embrace the New Year, they're hoping the dog will bring them good luck and a new beginning.
