Jordan aids Palestinians

Jordanian King Abdullah the Second says his country will exert every possible effort to ensure the continuation of aid to the Palestinians.

Abdullah met with the visiting special envoy of the Quartet Committee, James Wolfensohn. The Jordanian king called on the international community to continue supporting the Palestinian people. He also commended the Committee on their efforts to alleviate the hard economic situation in the Palestinian territories. Last week, Jordan offered urgent aid to the Palestinians in a bid to help ease severe food shortages in the Gaza Strip. The shortages were due to Israel's closure of a key goods crossing.
