2016 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting that has concluded in Lima, Peru. Leaders of the 21 APEC member economies adopted a declaration on advancing quality growth and human development. The Declaration describes policy commitments for APEC members to take forward in pursuit of this objective.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart, Barack Obama, have met in Lima on the sidelines of the APEC economic leaders meeting and agreed to maintain healthy and steady development of bilateral relations.
China's State Council recently made public its green goals for the next five years. The most ambitious target is a reduction of almost 20% in greenhouse gas emissions. It also sets a cap of total coal consumption at five billion tons for smog-plagued cities, however, their goal is to reduce coal use by as early as 2017.
China has urged all sides involved in the clashes in Myanmar to stay calm, and to immediately halt military operations. Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang said China is seriously concerned about the clashes, and is closely monitoring the situation.
