Tea exporters in India's eastern Sili-guri,in the state of West Bengal, are upbeat as a new provision of India's foreign policy looks set to give them an export boost. The new provision brings the tea industry under a scheme, which makes tea exports eligible for a duty scrip equivalent to 5 percent of the Free-on-Board value.

Tea exporters say this will help them import capital goods and allow value-added improvements. They expressed satisfaction that the scheme will help them achieve a target of 200 million kilos of export every year, after facing a slump due to the global economic crisis.
