Wu Bangguo meets Australian Senate President

China's top legislator, Wu Bangguo, held talks in Beijing with John Hogg, President of the Australian senate. Wu Bangguo says China and Australian have maintained a sound relationship in 37 years since diplomatic ties were established.

China and Australia are both influential in the Asia-Pacific region and have broad common interests and a good basis for cooperation.

Wu added that China is ready to improve the regular exchange mechanism with Australia in regard to parliamentary cooperation. Hogg agrees and expresses willingness on the Australian side to push forward practical cooperation with China in various sectors.
