Iraq holds first trade fair in over six years

2009-11-03 15:15 BJT

Baghdad is holding an international fair, billed as the biggest in Iraq since the US invasion in 2003. More than 300 local and foreign companies representing 27 countries from Europe, Asia and America are taking part in the fair, which runs till November 10th.

Political observers and economists say the wide scale participation of foreign companies represents a real reflection of stability in Iraq. Last week however, twin suicide attacks in Baghdad killed 155 people, the worst attacks in the country in two years.
