Joint ventures in futures get green light

Offshore futures brokerages registered in Hong Kong and Macao can now apply for the establishment of joint venture futures companies on the Chinese mainland. Under the latest CEPA supplementary agreements signed between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions last year, joint venture futures brokers between mainland companies and the two SARs were to be allowed from this year. The circular states that overseas partners can hold a maximum of 49 percent in the joint venture.
