China and European aircraft maker Airbus signed a memorandum of understanding Sunday on further boosting cooperation.
Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao was present at the signing ceremony at the headquarters of Airbus, in Toulouse, southwestern France. The two sides agreed to study the possibility of setting up an assembly line in China, a move that could see the jets being built outside Europe for the first time. The deal also sets the framework for a further upgrade of the cooperation between the two sides. Airbus' industrial cooperation with China dates back to 1985 when it signed the first agreement with Xi'an Aircraft Company to produce and assemble access doors.
