Chinese tourists can now visit Russia without a visa. The offer is open to citizens holding a valid passport and who register at a travel agency approved by the Russian Tourism Bureau. Experts say this will further encourage Chinese travellers to visit Russia, which have already been a hot tourism destination.

The visa exemption will save each visitor fifty dollars of visa application fee, and one doesn't have to wait for seven working days for the application process.

The price of Russian tours have dropped to around one thousand US dollars, thanks to the visa-free policy and new flight routes.

Zhao Dexiang, China International Travel Service, said, " Before registering for a tour to Russia without a visa, travellers should make sure that the agency is qualified to offer this kind of tour. This is very important."

Every year, about 200,000 Chinese travellers visit Russia. Since last August, after some areas in Russia have been opened up to Chinese travellers without requiring a visa, more Chinese people have shown interests in visiting the region. Right now, most of the tour packages to Russia during the May Golden Week have been fully booked.
