With the deadline on contracts with airport shops nearing, Beijing Capital International Airport has said it will soon allow interested businesses to bid for a slot at one of the airport's three terminals.

Hundreds of well-known enterprises have already expressed an interest in bidding for floor space, especially in the airport's ultra-modern Terminal 3. The bidding will cover retail space in all three terminals, with a total area of 100,000 square meters.

The airport said that in order to receive a contract, shops must guarantee the quality of the products they sell at the airport, and to offer the same prices they do elsewhere.

Statistics show that the airport's non-aviation revenue reached 744 million yuan last year, totaling 38 percent of its total receipts.
