US, Mexico, EU seek WTO settlement over Chinese export restrictions

The United States, Mexico, and the European Union have asked the World Trade Organization to settle a dispute with China over export restrictions on raw materials used to make steel, aluminum, and chemical products.

This request for a WTO dispute settlement panel comes after several previous consultations failed to resolve the spat. China says the curbs comply with Chinese trade commitments, and are meant to protect the environment and natural resources.
