China approves new development zone

The State Council has approved a border development zone in the Tumen River Delta. The Jilin Provincial government says the pilot project is a first for China.

The area is 73,000 square kilometers, with a population of 11 million people. The zone is aimed to boost cross-border cooperation in northeast Asia.
