The economic growth driven by the government's stimulus package can not be sustained indefinitely. The statement was made by the Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Yizhong.

Li noted that over the past year, China's manufacturing industry was severely hit by the global financial crisis. But thanks to the 4-trillion-yuan stimulus package, industries have shown a U-shape performance in the past seventeen months. But despite recovery, it can not continue to depend solely on the government's stimulus investment.

The minister pointed out that next year will be a crucial one for China to shorten the gap between developed countries.
