NDRC announces measures to stabilize gas supply

2009-11-24 09:12 BJT

In the aftermath of excess rainfall and heavy snowstorms, the National Development and Reform Commission announced four measures to stabilize market supply on Monday.

According to the statement, natural gas producers should try their best to increase resource supply. In the first 20 days of November, PetroChina's daily gas supply reached 182 million cubic meters. This is an increase of 22 percent, year on year. All relevant departments should also plan resource balance as a whole, optimize their management net operations and strengthen safe management at weak points to ensure the stable flow of natural gas during its production, sale, and transport.

They should then strengthen supervision and harmonized control in order to grasp the supply and demand situation properly. Extra attention should be paid to key areas. They must respond immediately to emergencies and take active measures to solve problems quickly.

Finally, natural gas demand management needs to be strengthened, and gas use policies should be strictly adhered to. Ensuring residents' living gas consumption has to be the first priority.
