Wuhan restores taxi gas supply

2009-11-26 09:11 BJT

Taxi gas stations in Wuhan resumed service on Wednesday after a ten-day suspension. The city in central China cut off natural gas supplies to 26 taxi gas stations due to the increasing energy demand amid heavy snow on November 16.

The weather is now less severe, and demand for natural gas from residents has decreased, meaning there is now enough spare to provide taxi gas stations and companies. Meanwhile, the city government has initiated measures to prevent any future strain on energy resources. There will be rationing of gas supplies to residents whose homes are equipped with natural gas heaters.

The city currently has no gas reserve station, but plans to build one with a storage capacity of 20-million cubic meters. This will guarantee 10-days of emergency use for the city.

One taxi driver in Wuhan said "We hope the gas supply will be secure for a long time."

One taxi driver in Wuhan said "We hope there will always be a convenient gas supply. A stable, long-term gas supply will benefit both drivers and passengers."
