Airlines are raising the fuel surcharge on international routes. This follows their recent hike on domestic networks. The increase will be as high as 50 percent.
Air China has announced that it will initiate the change on December 1st. For travel from China to Southeast Asian countries, the fuel surcharge will go up to 300 yuan, from the current 200 yuan.
Asiana Airlines says it will raise the fuel surcharge for routes between China and South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Saipan by 50 yuan to reach 250 yuan as of December 14th.
Analysts predict that the fuel surcharge hike will also increase travel prices during the upcoming Spring Festival by more than 5 percent.
