China lists key industries to support

China's industrial output should grow 11 percent for the entire year. That's according to the Minister of Industry and Information Technology, speaking Monday morning at a work conference.

Li Yizhong also highlighted the alternative energy, advanced material and biomedical sectors as key industries to receive government support in the next five year plan for economic development. The current plan runs from 2006 to 2010.

The government is expected to publish the next plan for 2011 to 2015 sometime next year. On another topic, Li Yizhong, said investment in third-generation mobile technology shot past 140 billion yuan this year, after three 3G licenses were approved in early 2009. Meanwhile, the number of 3G users has already hit above 10 million.
