China's lending hit 9.6 trln yuan in 2009

New yuan loans hit a new record in 2009, hitting a total of 9.59 trillion yuan. At around 1.4 trillion US dollars, this is close to double the amount for the year before that.

According to the central bank, mortgage lending rose 1.4 trillion yuan, up 48 percent. That's up 37 percentage points from the previous year.

Meanwhile, total mid and long-term loans in foreign and domestic currencies expanded 7.1 trillion yuan in 2009, up 44 percent from the previous year.
