Labor shortages in parts of China are drawing increasing attention from both local governments and companies. City officials and business managers are now weighing all options to resolve the problem.

The local job market in Nanjing saw a large number of migrant workers seeking employment on the first day after the holiday. Companies coming to the market offered salaries with a average increase of 200 yuan per month, and were even willing to recruit unskilled workers for training.

Recruiter, Nanjing, said, "Jobs for workers without any skill are available in our company. But we are unlikely to recruit enough due to the huge demand."

Recruiters in Zhangping of Fujian Province offered various recreational activities and stressed their corporate culture as a key drawing point in their recruitment campaign. Meanwhile, the local government in Quanzhou promised to offer free education for children of migrant workers.
