Demand for domestic travel is surging ahead of the World Expo. And as BizChina's Zhou Xiaoye found out, many have the same destination.

Domestic trips in China are usually booked 2-weeks in advance. But tour agents in Tianjin are already being flooded with requests for transport and accommodation in May when the World Expo begins in Shanghai.

Visitors signing up for the World Expo Tour not only see Expo Park, but also scenic sights in nearby cities.

Hong Yu, Tianjin China Classical Holiday, said, "We predict that prices to Shanghai will certainly go up after the May Day Holiday, including accommodation, tickets to scenic sights, and not only for Shanghai, but also for Hangzhou."

A Dalian tour agency has arranged charter flights to Shanghai during the expo.

All seats on the first charter flight are already booked.

The price for a room in a four-star Shanghai hotel is currently around 300 yuan. During the Expo, it could reach 800 yuan.

Expo tours from Guangxi's Nanning city, are also proving popular. Most locals are booking through tour agencies to ensure they get the best deal.

Mrs. Zhou, Manning Resident, said, "I want to visit Shanghai World Expo park if possible."

It's expected more than 70 million people will visit the Park during the Shanghai World Expo. But tour agencies can only organize very limited groups, so many people will have to take individual tours.

Industry insiders recommend these visitors arrive in Shanghai in June or September to avoid the travel peak.
