Special Report: Shanghai World Expo 2010 |

The Shanghai World Expo is expected to bring a huge tourism wave to China's biggest urban center and its nearby regions.

A month before the Expo opens, tourism is increasing and foreign consuls have visited nearby areas ahead of the millions of travellers expected to flock in.

A dozen foreign consuls from the US, Germany, Austria and other countries are visiting Tongli, an old town two hours drive from Shanghai. The town has maintained eastern Chinese traditional architecture and entertainment styles.

They have the luxury of enjoying some exclusive arrangements. They also bear the responsibility to introduce some best Chinese tourism and cultural resources to their countries' people and leaders.

The World Expo will have an impact on the whole Yangzte River Delta region. The Expo will be used as a platform to demonstrate the natural environment and cultural heritage of the region.

Ninety-six cities in the region have joined the scheme to show their best as a part of the Expo.
