Panasonic launches 3D TV in Tokyo

2010-04-23 17:47 BJT

Panasonic has released a 3D television for home use in Japan. And now officials are wondering whether it will lead to the opening of a new market.

The electronics maker went on sale with its 3D TV at limited shops, two days prior to the official release date. The TV has a 50-inch screen and the price is 20 percent more than current models.

South Korea's Samsung Electronics, which has the largest share of the global TV market at present, has already started selling 3D TVs. Sony also plans to launch theirs in June, and Toshiba and Sharp will release their models by the summer.
