A Trade Fair has opened in Urumqi, the capital city of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The event has attracted more than three-thousand domestic and foreign businessmen, despite July's riot.

The Urumqi Trade Fair is a prominent business event targeting central, western, and southern Asia. Central and regional government officials, as well as thousands of entrepreneurs, attended the opening ceremony. Thousands of business people from about 30 countries and regions are attending the gathering.

Participating businessman from United States said, "I am very much looking forward to talking to some government people about projects here, on the agriculture. Everything here has very good quality, and people are great, very friendly."

The Urumqi Trade Fair covers an area of 35-thousand square meters and has more than two-thousand exhibition booths.

Participating businessman from Hong Kong said, "We bring some products from enterprises of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong and Xinjiang enterprises are complementary in many aspects. Our enterprises can help Xinjiang enterprises to go out to find larger markets. I also hope our products can expand market through this fair."

The regional government says the exhibition booths were sold out before the fair began, proving that the riot did not affect Xinjiang's geographical advantage.

The Fair will last five days and wrap up on Saturday.
