China's foreign minister has described President Hu Jintao's trip to the United States to attend four important summits as a significant and far-reaching diplomatic move. During his return trip on Friday, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi summed up China's participation in the four international summits.

Yang Jiechi said that President Hu's participation in four international summits over the past several days is unprecedented in China's history of foreign affairs. He also said President Hu's US visit was fruitful.

During the general debate of the UN General Assembly, the Chinese leader expounded China's stance on major regional and global issues. The international community spoke highly of President Hu's speeches, and reinforced China's irreplaceable role in international and regional issues.

At the UN Security Council summit on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, President Hu elaborated on China's proposals for nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, the peaceful use of nuclear power, and nuclear security. It was the first time in a decade that a Chinese leader articulated the country's stance on nuclear issues in a multi-lateral forum.

At the Pittsburgh G20 summit, President Hu spoke of China's efforts to tackle the global financial crisis, and its achievements in fulfilling commitments from the previous two summits. He also explained China's position on efforts to promote world economic recovery, reform the international financial system, and achieve balanced and sustainable growth worldwide.
