Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev have met on the sidelines of the APEC leaders' meetings in Singapore. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and other issues of mutual concern.
Hu Jintao said regular summit meetings between the two countries are important. Many achievements have come from the meetings including deals on energy, investment and high-tech cooperation.
For the future, President Hu said cooperation in natural gas and nuclear energy require the two countries to work closely together.
This year is the year of Russian language in China. Both leaders acknowledged that such cultural exchanges promote understanding among the two nations.
Medvedev added that Russia will work with China within the frameworks of the G-20, APEC and BRIC meetings, as well as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
