China's biggest drug lord has been executed! As one of the nation's most wanted criminals, the man responsible for producing and trafficking astounding amounts of narcotics had evaded the law for years. But when his last appeal to the Guangdong provincial court was denied, time finally ran out.
This is the man, Liu Zhaohua, China's biggest individual crystal meth producer and dealer to date. By the time he was caught in 2005, he had been on the run for nine years.
Liu Zhaohua said, "I knew the day would come. My only regret is that I can't make Ice anymore."
In 1996, Liu taught himself chemistry and made 15 kilograms of crystal meth, also known as Ice, in a remote village in East China's Fujian Province. The first buyer his accomplices found, however, was an undercover cop. By the time police arrived at his processing plant, Liu was long gone.
Xue Jianhe, police officer, said, "At the processing plant, there were automatic control panels and dozens of reaction tanks. It was just phenomenal. We had never seen anything like that before."
After fleeing the scene in Fujian, Liu, now one of China's most wanted fugitives, mysteriously disappeared. It was not until 1999 that the hunt for another drug lord revealed Liu's whereabouts.
Police were shocked to find a storage house containing an incredible 12 tons of crystal meth. The address on the packages indicated that Liu might be hiding in Guangzhou. With the police in pursuit, he made a narrow escape.
On November 24th, 2004, The Ministry of Public Security put a Level A bounty, the nation's highest, to those who could provide clues for Liu's whereabouts.
