3 more sentenced to death for Urumqi riot

Fourteen people convicted of taking part in July's deadly riot in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were sentenced on Thursday. Three people were sentenced to death.

Ahmatjan Moming, Tohti Pazil and Aizezijiang Yasin were sentenced to death for murdering three people during the riots. Yasin received a two-year reprieve for helping police investigating the riots with his confession. In a separate case, Han Junbo was sentenced to death for attacking two innocent Uygur people.

One of Han's victims died, while the other was injured. Earlier on Monday, six criminals were sentenced to death for a variety of crimes including murder, arson and robbery. The Urumqi riot on July 5 left almost 200 dead and 1600 injured.
