2009-11-18 22:15 BJT

Now turning to the latest development of the daring prison break in Hunan Province. The inmate, Liu Hong, remains at large after he dug a hole through a wall and broke out Sunday morning.

It's late at night, and police investigators are still working at the Deshan Prison in Changde city. A villager says he saw the inmate but thought it was just a normal pedestrian.

An eyewitness in Changde of Hunan province said, "I saw him jumping off a wall, the next moment he disappeared."

The wall the villager is referring to lies on the outskirts of the prison, standing 3 meters tall. Inside, there's another 4.5-meter-wall equipped with high voltage wires.

But these walls were ineffective in confining Liu Hong. He was sentenced to prison on theft charges, but managed to break out last year. The sentence was extended to 20 years after Liu was caught in January. But on November 15th, he escaped again.

Villagers say Liu has fled into nearby mountains. Police have set up check points on major roads and have offered a 50 thousand yuan reward for information leading to his capture.
