An office led by the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC Central Committee is leading the country's campaign against commercial bribery. The office is concerned with Chinese enterprises' bribing activities abroad, which is harming China's image, and disturbs world markets.

The office says an inspection system will be set up to see whether overseas Chinese enterprises are conducting their business according to Chinese and local laws. Those who are found to have been involved in bribing activities will face severe punishment.

China is also building a nationwide information platform for recording the social credit of domestic enterprises. Commercial bribery and other criminal activities will be recorded in the system, thus deciding the company's credit rankings. Low ranking firms will be hard-pressed to qualify for bank loans or governmental subsidies.
