2010-03-17 08:51 BJT

Premier Wen Jiabao has met with visiting British Foreign Secretary David Miliband here in Beijing. Premier Wen says China highly values its ties with Britain, and is willing to upgrade bilateral strategic dialogue.

China hopes the two sides can strengthen mutual understanding and trust, and increase cooperation, motivating the healthy and stable long-term development of Sino-UK relations.

Wen stressed that China will stick to the Open-up strategy for achieving mutual benefits, welcoming foreign enterprises, including those in Britain, to invest in China. Wen said China and Britain should speed up cooperation in the Green economy and environmental protection against climate change, and trade protectionism.

British Foreign Secretary Miliband said Britain is willing to seek common ground and deepen cooperation with China. He noted his country values the Chinese market, saying more British enterprises are willing to extend investment in China.
