Anticipation is in the air as the contenders for the 48th Grammy Awards have been unveiled in New York. Mariah Carey's comeback came full circle when she received eight Grammy nominations.
Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" was nominated for Best Album of the year, while the ballad "We Belong Together", which ruled the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 14 weeks, made the grade for Best Song of the Year.
Carey's eight nominations tied John Legend and Kanye West. Soul crooner Legend's nominations included Best New Artist, while West is up for Album of the Year for "Late Registration" and Song of the Year for "Gold Digger".
Other multiple nominees included 50 Cent, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Missy Elliot, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen, Gwen Stefani, and U2.
The final winners list will be announced on February the 8th at the in Los Angeles.
