A spectacular display of acrobatics, royally clad men, Bollywood glamour and British Queens-- it was all there at the grand finale of New Delhi's Fashion Week.
Designer duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, with the help of veteran Monisha Jaisingh, entrapped buyers in their "Garden of Desire".
The frenzied mix of lace, satin and cotton was cut in iconoclastic style. Precious-stone sequins embellished the patterns, as rope dancers slithered and twirled to the music
Designer Rahul Khanna said: "The sets, all the clothes were based on the theme which was revolving around femininity and lot of simple feminine silhouettes."
The Fashion Design Council, though yet to release the figures, has declared this the most successful Fashion Week ever. A record number of buyers participated.
Some of the big money comes from the Mideast. Last year, Usha Company of Kuwait placed a 100,000 US dollar order.
But this event was not strictly business. Designers had plenty in store to amaze and enthrall audiences. Even Queen Elizabeth took the ramp.
