China Fashion Week opened on Monday in Beijing in the middle of an abrupt temperature drop. But it was all vibrant and colorful inside D-Park in Beijing's 798 Art Zone where more than two-hundred designers from fifty labels are set to present the latest fashions for 2010 Spring and Summer during the seven-day event.
College student designers opened the event with flamboyant colors and highly individualized styles. The clothes have offered a unique perspective of being pretty and chic.
Homegrown designers dominated this year's shows, with a decrease of international brands. Wang Qing, Chairman of China Fashion Week Committee said that a designer label often highlights individuality, which is a crucial factor in the transformation from Made in China to Designed in China.
Six Taiwan designers and seven Taiwan labels will also participate in this year's event. Men's wear fashion, which is rarity in previous shows, will be presented in a record-number of six shows this year.
