Animation to promote environment protection on big screen

The 3-D animated film "King of Milu Deer" has been recruited into a project aiming to promote environmental protection in China. A group of eco-friendly TV, film, and publication works are also included in the plan titled "Green Shelf", which is all part of China Environment and Health Week.

The "King of Milu Deer" is based on a legend from the ancient Chinese literary classic "Legends of Mountains and Seas". It tells a love story between a prince and a girl who is transformed from an elk into a human. The animated film was chosen by the "Green Shelf" project for its theme about "harmony between humans and the nature".

Also included in the project are a documentary "The Water Cries", and films "Kekexili", "Gadameilin", and "Super Typhoon", as well as the books "Silent Spring", "21th Century Agenda of Chinese Environmental Protection", and "100 Things to Protect Our Environment".

The films and books will be donated to middle and primary schools and public libraries all over the country. A middle school education base and a wild Northeast Chinese Tiger reserve are also part of the program.

In a couple of years, 5000 to 10-thousand "Green Shelf" sites will be set up to publicize eco-friendly knowledge.
