Remembrance of Dreams Past began Wednesday on the small screen. Based on Taiwan writer Lin Peifen's novel, the series reunites mainland actors Chen Kun, Li Xiaoran and Luo Haiqiong, who last appeared together in "Love Story in Shanghai".

Remembrance of Dreams Past is a story about Qing Dynasty noble Lu Tian'en's transformation from a well-born master to a common person. He was forced to scrape together a living on his own means. The novel is partly biographical, for Lin Peifen, who also wrote the scripts for the TV series, drew on her own father's experience for inspiration.

Chen Kun plays Lu Tian'en, who becomes entangled in relationships with a Qing princess played by Luo Haiqiong, a doctor played by Li Xiaoran, and a singer played by Xiong Naijin. Chen carries the role from the age of 17 to 90.

Chen Kun said, "I tried my best for the part. I am not sure it's a smooth performance, but I am very serious about it."

Eight years after they last worked together, the TV series once again combines the talents Chen Kun, Li Xiaoran and Luo Haiqiong. It began airing nationwide on Wednesday.
