In Beijing, the Fourth International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo has concluded with a high-profile auction. Over 50 items of memorabilia associated with China's Olympic experience were seen going, going, gone!
Bidding was brisk right from the start of the auction. Number twenty-eight was one of the most eager buyers. She bagged nine of the first ten lots that went under the hammer. The most prominent among them was the ticket for first Olympic competition by a Chinese runner.
Other lots include the Olympic Flame lantern with Samaranch's autograph and a Beijing Olympic Torch with Pele's autograph. Both fetched more than 300-thousand yuan.
The last sale was a calligraphy work by Mr. Zhang Huichen, a renowned contemporary artist. The scroll reading Exceptional Performance fetched 99-thousand yuan, which was donated to a pediatric liver cancer patient from central China's Wuhan city.
The over 50 lots at the auction brought in a total of more than 3-and-a-half million yuan.
