Hollywood blockbuster "Avatar" went into general release across China on Monday. Just as it has done at box offices worldwide, "Avatar" is also attracting legions of cinema goers in the Chinese capital.

In Beijing, where the heaviest snowfall in more than half a century hit over the weekend, cinema goers are braving freezing temperatures to watch the film. The city's Capital Cinema, for example, has scheduled 30 "Avatar" screenings in eight of its 11 halls. Our reporters arrived at the movie-house at five-thirty in the afternoon, only to find all tickets sold out until 10 PM.

An audience member said, "The emotional bond is very touching."

"The central message is to protect the environment. It's an apt topic."

"The film's a hallmark for later 3D films."

"Avatar" is showing in traditional 2D style, and well as the 3D and IMAX 3D formats. Many of those who watched the film in 2D have expressed wishes to return again to view the 3D version.
