In the run-up to May's Shanghai World Expo, countries around the globe are preparing to promote their presence. The scale and scope of the event is broadening participants' approach to the world's largest show.

Commissioners General from the five Nordic countries are in Beijing for the pre-launch of their Expo projects, concentrating on the theme of "Better City, Better Life".

Ambassador Christopher Bo Bramsen, Commissioner General of Denmark, said, "That's the starting point for all of us. So we're concentrating how to make sure, in the future world with big cities, people survive in a good way, how to have a happy life, and what does it take. It's about happy people in big cities."

In Japan's 2005 World Expo, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden had a collective Nordic presence and a joint pavilion. But this year, each country has decided to take part individually.
