Ancient play "Peony Pavilion "prepares for US debut

The Beijing Performing Arts Company has clinched a deal with Broadway Asia for a world tour of the musical production "Peony Pavilion." The show will make its US debut after a 30-performance run in China.

The musical Peony Pavilion is a recent adaptation of the renowned play created by Tang Xiangzu, a contemporary of William Shakespeare. The love story has fascinated the Chinese imagination for over four centuries on the stage of Kunqu Opera. The new musical version has been adapted to suit modern-day audiences.
