Pastel painting master exhibition opens

Pastel is an art style using a stick, consisting of pure powdered pigment and a binding agent. First introduced into China a century ago, the art has been spread under the late prestigious painters Liu Haisu, Xu Beihong and Li Mubai's efforts.

A graduate from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1955, Professor Hang has been dedicated to teaching pastel painting for more than four decades. His work clinched first prize at the 26th Pastel Painting Exhibition in the United States in 1998, and the second year he was crowned with the award of excellence by the American Artists Professional League.
